Move transform origin

Move transform origin

Learn how to move the transform origin (anchor point, pivot point, origin) of your layer

When you want to move the point where a layer rotates or scales from, you need to move the layer's Transform Origin.

Transform Origin

The Transform Origin is the point in which all transforms (position, scale, skew, rotation) are derived from. This is most often used to adjust the point your layer rotates or scales from. Other apps sometime refer to this concept as the "Anchor Point," "Origin," or "Pivot Point."

Moving Transform Origin

FAQ

How does transform origin affect dimensions?

The Transform Origin does not directly affect how the dimensions of a shape resize.

When you adjust the dimensions of a shape using the edges of the bounding box, the layer will resize in the direction you drag, regardless of where the transform origin is positioned. Likewise, if you adjust the dimensions of the shape via the Inspector, the shape will resize from the center of the shape regardless of where the transform origin is positioned.

It's important to remember that a layer's scale is different than a layer's dimensions. Transform origin only affects transform properties such as scale.

How does transform origin affect already created keyframes?

It is recommended to set transform origin for your layers prior to animation; however, if you need to adjust the transform origin after you've started animating transform properties, Fable will automatically update all keyframes relative to the current frame.

Can I keyframe the transform origin?

You cannot keyframe the transform origin on Fable. It is a value inherent to the way a layer is expected to behave throughout a sequence. If you find yourself in a situation where you'd like to animate the transform origin, we recommend creating a duplicate of the layer with an alternate transform origin position.
