Import Overview

Import Overview

Fable supports various file formats and integrates with tools such as Figma, Illustrator, and Photoshop. This article explains how to import those files into Fable to start animating.

To import your files into Fable, and with a project already open, simply drag and drop the file anywhere into the browser window. The upload process will begin, and you can import multiple files at the same time.

To cancel an upload, hover over an item in the uploader and click the cancel button that appears.

Supported File Formats

Fable is designed to be an all-in-one editor so that you can import anything from native vectors to images, video, and even audio files.

  • Images: PNG, JPG, GIF, WEBP, PSD

  • Videos: MP4, MOV, AVI

  • Audio: MP3, WAV, AIFF

  • Vector: SVG

Tip! SVGs are converted into native, editable shape layers so they won't appear in your Asset Browser.

Importing from Figma

Fable can convert your Figma artwork into native, editable layers, which makes it easy to animate with flexibility and control. Check out this article for more info.

Importing from Illustrator

To import from Illustrator, you'll first need to export an SVG file and then upload that to Fable. Read more over here.

Importing from Photoshop

Photoshop PSD files can be dropped straight into the Fable editor. Fable will do its best to preserve layer information where possible. More info here as well.
