How to import a video

There are 2 ways to import video files into Fable:

  1. Drag a drop the file into the Editor.

  2. Upload it via the Asset Browser [shortcut]

Your video will automatically render when you press play.

How to adjust a video’s properties

Once you place a video onto your timeline, you’ll have access to it’s Source and Dimensions properties

Source: Use the source dropdown to select which video file is playing on the layer. Only video files that have been uploaded to the Asset Browser will show up in the dropdown.

💡 Note: You can change the source of a video layer while keeping its transforms, keyframes, and effects intact.

Dimensions: Control the size of a video file by click+dragging the a handle of the bounding box, or by entering values into the width and height fields

Cover: Scale the video to fill its container.

Contain: Fit entire video within its container.

💡 How to reset: You can reset a video’s dimensions at anytime by right clicking the layer and selecting “Reset video dimensions” in the dropdown.

There are two ways to move a video on the timeline:

  1. Click+drag the center of the duration bar on the timeline

    1. Note: Holding shift will enable snapping

  2. Right click on the layer and select either “Move start to playhead” or “Move end to playhead”
