Commenting

Commenting

Comments offer a way to leave and receive actionable feedback on your projects–all in one place; they can be associated with specific moments in time or positions on the canvas.

There are two ways to create comments on your projects:

1 Use the Comment Tool

You can activate the Comment tool on the toolbar or select C. Next, click anywhere on the canvas, add text, and click Return/Enter.

Your comments will be linked to the chosen location and the exact frame where you've paused on the timeline.

2 Use the Comment Sidebar

Open the sidebar and leave a comment in the text field.

Sidebar settings default to creating general comments, which are not linked to time or position. Click the timestamp checkbox beneath the text window to include context.

Replies & Threads

Use Replies to start conversation threads with your teammates on specific comments. To leave a reply:

  • Find the comment you're replying to on the Comment Sidebar.

  • Type in the "Reply..." input underneath the comment.

  • Press Return/Enter or click the "Send" button.

Notifications

Fable notifies you of comment activity through in-product and email alerts. Full-access and editor members get notifications for new comments. When you leave a reply, anyone on that specific thread will be notified.

Permissions & Access

Grant "Can Collaborate" permissions to allow someone to leave comments on a project.

The invitee will get an email notification about being added as a collaborator. If they're not already a member or guest in your workspace, they must accept the invite via email before accessing the project to leave comments.

Read more on permissions here.

Deleting comments

Only comment authors and full-access members can delete. Deleting a comment also deletes its replies. Click the "..." menu on the Comment Sidebar to delete.

Resolving comments

To help keep your collaboration space tidy, there are two comment sections in the sidebar: Active and Resolved.

Click the checkmark icon to the right of a comment to resolve or un-resolve it.
