Sharing projects

Sharing projects

Learn how to easily share Fable projects with teammates and guests.

Overview

You can share Fable projects with anyone in the world by simply copying and distributing the URL of your project. No software downloads or plugin installations; all you need to do is send the link.

Each project has a unique id for distinction. Access to a Fable project link depends on the project's public access settings and any individual access overrides.

Public Access Settings

When someone opens a Fable project url, they will be able to open and interact with the project based on the project’s public access settings.

There are 3 project access options.

  • Anyone with the link can view and duplicate - anyone who opens this link, regardless if they're a Fable user, can open and preview your project. They'll also be able to create their own copy of the project to their account.

  • Anyone with the link can view - anyone who opens the link, regardless if they're a Fable user, can open and preview your project.

  • Only members can access - only members who have been given access to the project can view and open the project when navigating to a link. The member will take on any editing permissions they've been granted.

By default, all projects on free plans are set to "Anyone with the link can view and duplicate."

You can adjust your project’s public access settings on the Share dialog.

  1. Open the project that you want to share

  2. Click the Share button in the top right of the editor

  3. In the section that says Project link, click the dropdown to display all access options

  4. Click the option you'd like your project to have.

Individual Access Invites & Overrides

Alternatively, you can grant project access to specific individuals. This can be useful for inviting people outside of your team or for overriding team access settings for certain projects.

To individually invite someone to a project

  1. Open the project share dialog.

  2. Type your teammate’s name or email on the invite input.

  3. Click the “Add +” button for the account or email you’d like to invite

  4. Select the specific permissions you'd like to grant the person.

  5. Click the Invite button.

Invited members will be granted immediate access to the project and receive a notification email.

Overriding Team Member Access

If you are working on a team project, all members of your team will be granted access to projects based on the permissions set on Workspace Settings.

If the teammate is an editor, they'll be able to make changes that save to the project. If they're a viewer, they can open the project but their changes will not save to the project.

You can override these settings for specific people and projects with individual invites mentioned above.

Access Denied

If you do not have necessary permissions to view a project, you will not be able to view or edit the project. Please request access from the project owner.
