Hello Fablers, and welcome back to another episode of Fable Academy. In this tutorial, we're going to look at the Luminosity Area effect.
We have our scene here. Select our JPEG layer as usual. In the top right here under effects let's type in luminosity area. Drag it and drop it.
A few controls here. You've got the color, which basically defines the color that is being recolored in, based on your luminous values. You've got the default opacity of the effect, which determines whether the recolor is transparent or opaque.
You have the threshold, which basically dictates the strength of the luminosity area. Zero will have no effect. 100 will affect everything, dark and light.
The smooth width determines the hardness and softness of the effect. And the global opacity controls the overall opacity of the effect on the image.
So let's take a look here. What goes on if we turn this down, you'll notice and remember that we have a red background. What you're seeing here is making it transparent. If we turn it up, it becomes 100% solid.
Threshold, as in the other effects, will dictate that difference at which point the effect is applied versus not.
The smooth width, you can make this super sharp edges or you can make it nice and smooth, to blend the transition.
Lastly, you've got the global opacity, which seems to be not super prominent in this effect, but you see the difference here between no application and 100% application of the effect.
