Hello Fabers, and welcome back to another episode of Fable Academy. In this episode, we're going to talk about the Invert effect.
As usual, we have our scene, we're going to select our sample image here. Go to the top right to the effects panel. Let's type in invert. Click drag and drop and immediately you see what can happen.
Basically, we're inverting all of the RGB values in our scene or our layer to their direct opposites on the color wheel. This makes some really cool sort of night infrared effects. Ultimately many times we're going to want to have a black and white image and invert that, whether it be used for an alpha matte or as a mask of some sort.
We basically have one slider here on the invert, which is the percentage. If you take it to 50, you'll get fully gray image because there's now no more contrast and everything is a direct opposite of itself. If you go all the way down, turn it off. Punch it up.
And when you select invert alpha channel, basically what this does is that if our image has an alpha, it's cut out. Let's say this bottom portion and the top was transparent. By turning this on, it would then say, the bottom section that has the imagery in it now becomes transparent and the other side becomes opaque. So this is super handy when you're trying to do fancy motion moves.
