What's up Fablers. Welcome back to another Fable Academy tutorial. In this episode, we're going to be looking at another one of our image utilities , the highlights and shadow utility.
We've got our example image in our scene here. Go ahead and make sure that it's selected and active. Go to the top right to our effects panel. And let's begin to type out highlights. Once it pops up here, highlights / shadows, we're going to click and drag . Drop it right on top of our image here.
This utility has three settings: highlights, shadows, and the global opacity.
How does this work? With everything set at zero, our image remains unaffected. Nothing is happening. Highlights basically focuses in on the highlight portions of our image and controls their overall intensity. The same thing goes for the shadows, except obviously we're using the shadow areas.
How is this different than a brightness and a contrast slider? Brightness and contrast will indiscriminately adjust the levels of your image, whereas highlights and shadows specifically highlights and zones in on the specified range of values.
In this case, it'll be the highlights of the image. And in this case, it will be the shadows of the image. Lastly, we have our global opacity slider that lets you either completely eliminate or 100% power on the effect.
