Hello Fablers, and welcome back to another Fable Academy tutorial. In this one, we'll be looking at the brightness and contrast utility.
With our sample image here, any image you like, let's go to our top right, to our effects library and let's type in brightness and contrast. Pops up right here, click and drag, drop it onto our layer.
Now immediately you see that things happen because there are some settings here that are already being amped up. This effect works much the same way it would in other photo imaging softwares. Basically brightness will increase the overall white values in relation to the dark values. So from a value of negative one, up to a value of one. One being an incredibly blown out image. Negative one, being an underexposed image.
Zero being pretty much default. Contrast on the other hand deals with the amount of intensity in the shadows of your image. The more you go to the left, the less there will be a contrast, ultimately ending in a pure gray. If you go to the right, it will exaggerate the difference between your darks and your lights, giving you this very high contrast image.
Lastly, we have our global opacity fader here on the bottom. That controls how much of the image is actually affected.
